EMDR + IFS PARTS Protocol: An IFS-Informed Approach to EMDR

The EMDR+IFS PARTS Protocol integrates the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model with EMDR Psychotherapy. As EMDRIA describes the integration, the overlay of the two models allows for "a more permission-focused approach to trauma healing. EMDR remains the foundational structure upon which the healing occurs, and the IFS model is the creative, permissive, and curiosity-driven process to prepare clients for trauma processing. This IFS-informed approach allows the clinician to gain permission from a client’s protective system, especially when struggling with standard protocol."

Throughout this training, you will:

- Identify key concepts and intersecting theoretical principles of the EMDR and IFS models

- Gain language to be able to explain the role of EMDR and IFS in processing and resolving traumatic memory

- Identify why a multi-intervention approach is needed for relational, developmental and complex trauma

- Identify benefits and limitations of integrating EMDR and IFS into a single-model approach

- Learn when to integrate and when to use stand alone models

- Learn step by step treatment planning and integration techniques

- Learn a non-pathologizing approach to addressing blocking beliefs, looping and resistance that honor’s the client’s protective system and innate drive to survive

- Increase your capacity to lead clients through the healing process through focusing on your own presence and Self-energy in the space

- PRACTICE integrating the models in a safe and encouraging environment

This training is created for therapists who:

1. Have familiarity with the IFS Model and have completed EMDR Basic Training (If you are not familiar with IFS, Sign up here to take the Introduction to IFS Training, and you'll be set to go to integrate IFS with EMDR!)

2. Are utilizing EMDR but are finding "resistance" or "blocking" with clients, are unsure how to help clients be "ready" for reprocessing and/or who are finding the protocols effective and want to be able to help clients move toward deeper, long-lasting healing.

3. Are working with complex cases and needing additional resources to help clients moe through the healing process.

4. Are ready to deepen their work with clients through exploring the impact of the therapist's deepened creativity and curiosity in the healing process.

Hi, I'm Casey. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Approved Supervisor. I have been practicing as a therapist since 2009, and during that time I have been privileged to provide care in community agencies, criminal justice settings with adult and juvenile detainees, non-profit agencies, academic settings, group practices and private practice. I am an EMDR and DBT-Trained therapist, a Certified Trauma Therapist through Trauma Support Services of North Texas and a Certified Sex Therapist through the American Board of Christian Sex Therapists. I have advanced training in Internal Family Systems and operate from a systemic perspective. My work focuses primarily on helping both clients and therapists heal and unburden parts of their internal systems to allow the safety and freedom to return that provide an environment where an increased sense of wholeness and love can exist.

In addition to more traditional therapeutic approaches, I also provide IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback and offer professional EMDR +IFS integration Consultation.
